Take It Slow by Casey Cochran
The affable Casey Cochran is a renaissance man. His personal list of accomplishments are as varied as the wind, and his latest is no different. This week the Connecticut native released his first album, Take It Slow.
Take It Slow strikes a folky, rock vibe from a bygone era. It blows the dust off of a pallet of sounds that have fallen out of favor, and they are as refreshing as the sound of a beer cracking open at a baseball game. Strong production, courtesy of James Maple, abounds throughout, with subtle additions to Cochran and his guitar that build the track up without overpowering the simplicity.
Cochran has something for everyone. With strong, rich vocals throughout, and some lyrically strong spots, the 7-track effort produces several highlights. With “Gettin’ on That Train” and “Take It Slow” Cochran gives us his best two records. The final track, “Baseball,” is a light fun track, an ode to the National Pastime. That said, there are no bad songs. This is a great album to throw into your rotation for some variation. Especially if you’re planning on taking it slow.
