Clever Girls, the 4 piece indie outfit from Burlington, VT have a new record, Constellations, due out on March 26th. “Baby Blue” the latest single off their upcoming project, is a dream pop ballad that will touch your soul.

Constellations is an album over a year in the making. The first single, “Remember Pluto,” was released in late in 2019. As we approach the long-awaited release date, “Baby Blue” will help carry us over the finish line. The distorted track has an M83, Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming quality to it. Diane Jean’s voice sounds haunting and distant, as if they recorded through a long empty hallway. The track is masterfully constructed, exuding feelings of loneliness and isolation. Anchored by Diane’s voice and some simple guitar, the song feels like a lost memory shrouded in an enigmatic mist. A gentle rimshots keep the rhythm. As the song reaches its climax, the distortion grows more and more disruptive, washing away the ambiance. At the same moment, Rob Slater adds a final charge, kicking the drums into gear.

We’re looking forward to seeing how “Baby Blue” fits into the larger landscape of Constellations. Will it be unique, or will it match the tone of the rest of the album? We are very much looking forward to finding out.

“Baby Blue,” and the rest of the Clever Girls discography and merch including a limited-edition pressing of Constellations is available for purchase via BandCamp. You can also find the band through your favorite streaming service.
