CT HIP-HOP: AnUrbanNerd Returns with “Dent”

New London’s AnUrbanNerd released “Dent,” which sounds like everything Lil Wayne’s Rebirth should have been.

Okay, so that might be something of an overstatement. Rebirth was the result of a superstar high on his own success (and whatever may have, allegedly been in his cup). That said, AnUrbanNerd captures the raw rock aesthetic that Wayne was going for, but he does it with his signature sharp, precise language.

He rhymes with an edge, fueled by a hunger to make crowds move. “No dent in my pride, not even a scratch,” he raps, keeping his head up despite the obstacles he’s facing in the game. It’s reminiscent of 21 Savage’s “a lot,” with AnUrbanNerd channeling his inner J.Cole, implying other rappers don’t even want to work with him; it’s scorched Earth on the mic. We’ll be keeping an eye out for live streams while we wait patiently to see him in person.
